Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the games I always point people to whenever they doubt that video games can be art. Not only has it got fantastic mechanics and a simple, but touching, storyline, but it’s also easily one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever experienced.

It’s got this big, bright, gorgeous art style that almost forces you to stop and appreciate the sheer amount of effort that has gone into making this game pretty. Then, just when you think you’ve had your fill, you get smacked across the ears with a soundtrack that, in a word, slaps.

It’s a game that plays well, looks gorgeous, sounds lovely and, thanks to the emotional rollercoaster of a story, makes you feel the feels all at the same time.

So how the bloody hell am I going to make a drink that pays tribute to all that?

If you like your egg-based beverages, try the Coming Storm from Fortnite.

After a lot of tinkering, I ended up with the sweet, deep, warming, comfortable spiced rum drink up above. It originally started as a full ‘flip’, a class of drink that uses egg yolk (or a whole egg) to give the drink this big bouncy mouthfeel—but it ended up tasting… well. Too eggy, to be honest.

As a result, I cut out the yolk but kept the egg white to retain the fluffy foam that plays so nicely with the nutmeg, as well as splashing in some pineapple juice (for a tropical kick) and some maple simple syrup (for a splatter of sweetness and a dab of woodsy depth). And, all over the top, you have those distinctive vanilla notes of the Captain Morgan.

It’s tasty, and I’d say on the sweeter side (like all my best cocktails, to be honest), but more than anything it goes down like a drink you can feel doing your body some good—a warm comfort spreading from the tips of your fingers to the soles of your feet.

Hope you enjoy!
