In a post-apocalyptic America, sometimes all you need is a nice, crunchy apple—with a dose of Bliss, of course.
You’ll need
- 2 oz (60ml) 1919 gin
- .50 (15ml) apple shrub
- .50 (15ml) Cointreau
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly to chill. Strain into your chosen vessel. Serve!
How to make the apple shrub
- In a saucepan, combine half a cup of apple vinegar, half a cup of sugar and half a cup of sliced apple.
- Heat slowly until the sugar is totally dissolved.
- Pour into a jar (apple slices and all) and seal, place in fridge over night.
- Use in this cocktail!
“The taste is sweet.”
Ethan Seed, on the Apple of Eden.
What happens when you combine incredibly potent narcotics, a nuclear holocaust and a bunch of fruit trees? Super-powered apples. Because obviously.
The Apple of Eden from Far Cry: New Dawn is seriously biblical, giving those with a ‘clean soul’ the opportunity to become true heroes—and those with less than sparkling white karma the curse of embracing their inner beast.

Creating a drinkable version of a Bliss-infused Apple of Eden could be as simple as putting together some gin, some apple-infused simple syrup and a little lemon juice. But that feels too ‘clean’. To really replicate the harsh price the Apple expects you to pay if you fail to contain your sin, we need to take it one step further—create a drink that you can feel burning inside you.
Instead of apple simple syrup, we’ve used an apple ‘shrub’: an old-school way of putting sour, sweet and fruity into a cocktail in one handy package. It’s a little more involved than just a simple syrup, but don’t let that put you off: it’s still very easy and the payoff is worth it.
Rather than the tasty but uninteresting gin-apple sour, you’re instead left with a drink that is an explosion of flavours. Much like Ethan described, it “tastes sweet”, but has an unexpected acidic bite to it that you can feel cleansing every inch of your very being as it goes down. Just don’t have too many, or you may end up with a hangover more vicious than a Yeti.
