The Warlocks of Destiny 2: call them Space Wizards and you’ll quickly find yourself upside down and inside out. Temper their anger with this gin, pineapple, mint and lychee concoction.
You’ll need:
- 1 oz (30ml) Gordon’s London Dry gin
- .50 oz (15ml) Kwai Feh lychee liqueur
- .75 oz (20ml) pineapple juice
- .50 oz (15ml) lemon juice
- .50 oz (15ml) simple syrup
- 7-8 mint leaves
Add the mint leaves and gin to a mixing glass. Muddle gently to release mint oils. Strain into a shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients. Add ice and shake thoroughly to chill. Send a prayer to The Traveler. Strain into your vessel and serve!

Anyone who has read my entry on the Medic Syringe knows that in most games, I’ll play the healer. The exception to that is Destiny, where I’ll always pick Warlock first: because who doesn’t want to make enemies go pop with the power of space magic?!
It helps that Warlocks easily have the most interesting backstory. Hunters and Titans are real good at shooting and real good at not getting killed, but Warlocks act as the epitome of Destiny as a game: a weird combo of sci-fi and fantasy; guns and magic; spaceships and evil eldritch beings.
It tickles me thoroughly, so there’s only one choice when I get to the character screen. And what’s a wizard without an equally interesting beverage to sip between splatting enemies with your arcane might?

If you read the behind-the-scenes of the inspiration of the Warlock, you’ll see that they’re are inspired by a fair number of different things: their attire is taken from standard wizardly vestments as well as WW1 trenchcoats, while their combat style is a bit of Morpheus, a bit of Gandalf and a bit of Jedi Knight.
In keeping with that amalgamation of many worlds, I tried combining a few different ingredients from different places: British gin, tropical pineapple juice and Chinese lychee liqueur (although Kwai Feh is actually a De Kuyper brand, from the Netherlands), all wrapped up in a minty bouquet.
It’s a drink of many countries, but all combined creates a slightly sweet, cooling drink that is pineapple dominant with the occasional flicker of fleshy lychee and a tickle of mint. Hope you guys like it as much as I do.
