Yellow Fairy | Fable

Square

Do you have any potions? Or food? When standard fare just won’t do the trick, every Hero turns to the most potent beverage available in Fable: the Yellow Fairy.

You’ll need

  • 1 oz (30ml) tequila reposado
  • 1 oz (30ml) marshmallow syrup
  • .50 oz (15ml) yellow Chartreuse
  • .50 oz (15ml) lime juice

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly until chilled. Strain into your chosen vessel. Gird thine liver. Serve!

“Thusly named because you’ll be turning yellow from the resulting liver damage. 250 proof, tastes like marshmallows.”

In-game item description

Excluding games like Cooking Mama or Overcooked, you’d be hard pressed to find a game where choosing your next meal has as much of an impact as it does in Fable. It can, in fact, become a defining aspect of your character.

Take, for example, the notorious Crunchy Chick item: a consumable which will literally make your character grow horns and emit a red aura. Eat too many pies in Fable II, meanwhile, and you’ll soon find your character is a little more rotund than before.

The same extends to drinks. Beverages like beer, wine and spirits will make you gain weight, change your level of purity and even give you experience points. It’s kind of a big deal in Fable – and perhaps the most notorious of these drinks is the Yellow Fairy, a highly prized, extremely potent beverage that will heal your body just as much as it damages your liver.

Looking for something a little more traditional? Try the Potion of Healing from Dungeons & Dragons.

In this recreation of this infamous drink, we’ve combined a very strange selection of ingredients. Tequila for bit of bite and added weight with the oak, yellow Chartreuse for some herbal notes and sweetness, and the marshmallow syrup for the vanilla (and the fact the drink supposedly tastes like marshmallows, according to the in-game description).

If you don’t have tequila reposado, you can make do with silver tequila, but it will be a little less smooth as a result of the lack of aging.

All up, it’s a sweet, herbal, very potent drink that every Hero, from Bowerstone to Brightwall to Oakvale, should find themselves thirsty for.

Cheers!
