One of the surprisingly fun mechanics to come out of Breath of the Wild was the cooking system. It was always a bit of a gamble figuring out what ingredients would make what, but it was also always a thrill to discover a new recipe—doubly so if it was useful.

You were encouraged to try anything and everything. Eggs and meat? Sure! Snails and butterflies? Why not? Literal magical fairies, whose only purpose is to ensure you keep on breathing? Surely that’s not going to wo-

Huh. “Fairy tonic”. That’s… surprising.

Yeah, you could totally use fairies in recipes. I’m pretty sure the first person to discover that is going straight the Hyrulian version of Hell, but if it works, it works: using a fairy in your cooking restores your health and chugging back a sprite smoothie could be the difference between life and death for Link. Doesn’t make it any less monstrous though.

For the cocktail version, I wanted to keep it light and aromatic, keeping the weighty spirits out of the equation and sticking to the pungent combo of lychee and elderflower. It’s a sweet champagne-style drink that wouldn’t be out of place at a brunch or as a liqueur’d up celebratory drink.

You will be pleased to know that, in reality, the fairies don’t get baked into the food itself. Rather, it’s “fairy dust” that’s sprinkled in, and the fairy just flutters away. That’s where the lustre dust comes in. It gives the drink a sparkle, and the fizziness of the sparkling wine keeps the dust moving after every sip.

Very pretty and very tasty too. Hope you Zelda fans enjoy!
