Love Potion | The Sims

Square

Turn the lights down low and pop open a bottle of brandy with this Sims-inspired cocktail designed to leave you lovestruck.

You’ll need

  • 1 oz (30ml) brandy
  • 1 oz (30ml) Aperol
  • .50 oz (15ml) cherry brandy
  • Egg white of one small egg.

Add all ingredients except the egg to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly to chill. Discard the ice, add the egg and shake again. Strain into your vessel. Serve (with a wink)!

“Finally, a love potion in a game that isn’t creepy.”

– Me

There have been quite a few different ‘Love Potions’ throughout The Sims series. There was Love Potion 8.5 in The Sims 2, Red Potion in the original’s Livin’ Large DLC, the Love Struck Potion in The Sims: Castaway… bloody hell, there really have been a lot of Sims games huh.

All of them revolve around the same general idea: get a Sim to drink it, and they’ll fall in love with someone, or that someone will fall in love with them, or both at the same time.

If you’re a fan of devilishly dessert-y drinks, you should try Joy from We Happy Few.

For this real-life version of the drink, you’ve got a bit of brandy for heat, some cherry brandy for that whole “cherries are an aphrodisiac” thing (plus the red colour), some egg to thicken it up and make it decadent and the Aperol… well, the Aperol is there to balance everything out. The cherry brandy is very sweet without the added bitterness—and it helps that I really, really like Aperol.

If you’re more on the bitter side when it comes to love (my condolences if so), try it with Campari instead. It’ll blow a lot of the sweetness out of the drink, but it’s super intense and still quite delicious if you think size does matter when it comes to flavour.

Hope you guys like it, and remember: too many love potions and you might end up in more trouble than you were bargaining for. Cheers!
