Shock Jockey | Bioshock: Infinite

Square

Time to spark it up with a deceptively simple sour inspired by Bioshock Infinite’s most popular plasmid.

You’ll need

  • 1.50oz (45ml) silver tequila
  • 0.50oz (15ml) blackberry liqueur
  • .50oz (15ml) lime juice
  • A splash of blue curacao
  • tsp absinthe

Add all the ingredients except the absinthe to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly to chill. Strain into a glass with an absinthe rinse. Serve!

That dastardly Fink sure stole a lot of ideas from Rapture. Not only did he appropriate the whole idea of ADAM as a genetic resequencer in the first place, but he even stole some marketing ideas. Electro Bolt, Shock Jockey – sound familiar to you? Sure, Shock Jockey might produce weird blue crystals while Electro Bolt is a little less showy, but it’s essentially the same thing – whether you call it a plasmid or a ‘vigor’.

I wanted to avoid the similarity problem when I created Shock Jockey. I’ve already done Electro Bolt before, so I went in a totally different direction for the Infinite version. In particular, I tried to replicate that iconic purple-pink of the Shock Jockey, even going as far as making my own blackberry liqueur. I can’t say it was a total success, but it still ended up making a very tasty, fruity drink with an unexpected bolt of absinthe to keep it interesting.
