Ancient beings like the Slaan have had a long time to figure out exactly what they like in a cocktail.

You’ll need:

  • 1 1/2 oz tequila anejo
  • 1 1/2 oz Sweet red vermouth
  • 1 1/2 oz Aperol
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

Method

  1. Build ingredients over ice in a rocks glass.
  2. Stir  for 15 seconds to chill.
  3. Serve.

If you’re a fan of Negronis, this is a twist that you’re sure to enjoy.

Inspired by the ancient civilization of the Aztecs, a Saurian drink clearly needs to have tequila. But not just any tequila; tequila anejo, aged for at least three years, and the most distinguished of all tequilas out there. Would a millennia-old being like Mazdamundi have it any other way?

Balance out the oaky smokiness of the tequila with the sweetness of the vermouth and Aperol, add a citrus kick with orange bitters and round it out with Angostura bitters and you’ve got a tipple that even the most coldblooded of lizardpeople would warm to.

Replace the tequila anejo with tequila blanco.

Replace the red vermouth with white dry vermouth.

Replace the orange bitters with celery bitters, the red vermouth with white dry vermouth and add a teaspoon of green chartreuse.
