Vitae | Vampire: The Masquerade

Square

Feed the Beast with a cocktail even the most stoic of Kindred couldn’t refuse.

You’ll need

  • 2 oz (60ml) Stolen gold rum
  • .50 oz (15ml) rich plum simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters

Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly to chill. Strain into your chosen vessel. Serve!

“Drink up, newbie. But not too deep.”

– Smiling Jack

When you’re making a drink based around a vampire game, there aren’t many options. Kindred aren’t known for their appetite for martinis, after all, and if you don’t come up with something thick, red and bloody-looking, it feels like you might’ve missed the whole point.

And so it is with Vitae, inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade. Making a cocktail around the one substance no vampire could do without is an obvious choice, but there is a madness to the method. Just ask any Malkavian.

Rather than just chucking some grenadine in vodka and calling it a day, this deep red concoction is designed to be much like Vitae is described in-game: a sweet, guilty pleasure, equally sustaining and draining at the same time; inherently more-ish. Velvet-soft and fruity with a hint of spice, it’s a slow sipper perfect for a quiet night in.

But be sure you don’t drink too deep or too often. The Beast is always waiting to pounce…
